Job Description

A leading tech company have an exciting job opportunity for a Senior Network Engineer to join their team in Johannesburg. You will be the key technical expert and owner of all aspects of their network infrastructure and associated network supporting their storage systems (SANs) in a multi data center environment

Your key job responsibilities as the Senior Network Engineer in Johannesburg will include:

  • Architect, build and turn up a brand new virtualized remote data center, creating robust processes to migrate existing circuits and IP blocks
  • Document, mentor and train other Infrastructure staff to properly operate, manage and monitor the network resources in the new data center as well as the WAN
  • Integrate the datacenter networks with 3rd party IaaS and SaaS providers (Azure, O365, etc.)
  • Provision new data circuits for Internet, VOIP and site-to-site connectivity

Requirements for this Senior Network Engineer job in Johannesburg:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a senior network engineering role
  • CCNP certification required
  • Minimum seven years’ experience in an enterprise environment
  • Enterprise Network Management experience strongly preferred
  • In-depth understanding of communication protocols (mainly TCP/IP) and routing protocols
  • In depth technical knowledge of firewalls (Palo Alto and Cisco ASA), routing and switching protocols is required
  • Experience managing CoLo datacenter turnups and migration required
  • Demonstrated expertise with WAN architecture and implementation
  • Comprehensive hands-on experience with Cisco routers, Cisco and HP switches,
  • Cisco and Palo Alto security devices, and supporting components through Layer 1
  • Prior network and ISP vendor management experience
  • Expertise designing routing topologies using advanced routing protocols
  • Experience with public key infrastructure (PKI) and certificate authority (CA)
  • Excellent communication skills. Able to build rapport with others
  • Proven ability to work within complex environments supporting different department initiatives
