Your key job responsibilities as the SQL Developer in Johannesburg will include:

  • Taking on issues and support on SQL applications in the company, ensuring things are working, and if not, taking an active role in supporting them
  • Partner with various departments on various projects to gather requirements, document the requirements, and then facilitate testing and ensuring the end product meets the specifications for the end users
  • Maintain a high degree of customer service for our end users, which means following up on issues they put in, working on reporting needs and reacts appropriately for the various issues that are submitted. Document resolutions to common issues and share in confluence
  • Responsible for the technical development associated with maintaining the enterprise data warehouse and reporting framework
  • Responsible for writing and performance tuning of complex SQL code
  • Adheres to coding standards as defined by IT

Requirements for this SQL Developer job in Johannesburg:

  • 4 year degree in IT or related field is preferred
  • 2 or more years of experience in a business setting is required
  • Five years plus of hands-on experience working in SQL development
  • Strong SQL Developer with excellent T-SQL, SSIS, SSRS and experience of SQL
  • Server Integration Services and strong knowledge of ETL techniques
  • Working knowledge of Oracle BI
  • Good experience of large-scale data migration projects with multiple data sources and familiar with Extract-Transform-Load patterns and processes
  • Strong background in data modelling, data management and data manipulation, code management and version control
  • Strong team-oriented skills coupled with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent working knowledge of the functionality and capabilities of MS SQL Server 2008 R2 and Oracle
