GCS Recruitment is searching for an Oracle Database Administrator to work with one of the leading software companies in Malta.


  • Carrying out ongoing tuning of the database instances
  • Planning and implementing backup, recovery and enforcing security of the Oracle database
  • Controlling migrations of programs, database changes, reference data changes and menu changes through the development life cycle
  • Putting standards in place, ensuring that all application design and code is produced up to standard
  • Performing reviews on the designs and codes regularly
  • Evaluating releases of Oracle and its tools, and third-party products to ensure that the site is running the products that are most appropriate
  • Providing technical support to application development teams
  • Enforcing and maintaining database constraints to ensure integrity of the database
  • Administering all database objects, including tables, clusters, indexes, views, sequences, packages and procedures
  • Assisting with impact analysis of any changes made to the database objects
  • Troubleshooting with problems regarding the databases, applications and development tools
  • Creating new database users as required
  • Managing sharing of resources amongst applications


  • Previous experience and knowledge in migrating code, database changes, data and menus through the various stages of the development life cycle would be considered a strong asset
  • Good knowledge of the operating systems and physical database design
  • Proficiency with Oracle; backup, recovery scenarios, tools, security, data integrity etc.
  • A sound knowledge of both database and program code performance tuning
  • Great communication skills; both written and verbal
  • Ability to provide a strategic database direction for the organisation
  • Strong organisational skills including time management and analytical skills
  • Ability to multitask
  • Team player
